DaVinci Resolve 17.3 Update

Blackmagic Design has released another big update for DaVinci Resolve – 17.3.

This one includes many exciting update updates like faster 4K and 8K processing on Apple silicon, better audio latency, and new Resolve FX controls.

“This is truly an amazing update that gives customers huge performance and power efficiency gains on Mac models with M1, and it totally transforms your computer, simply by downloading this free of charge DaVinci Resolve software update” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “This speed increase is stunning and it’s hard to believe. I have not seen a speed improvement this large since the original 68000 to Power PC transition back in the 1990’s and it is just amazing. Who would have thought just a year ago that multiple 4K streams could be played back and edited natively on a MacBook Air, but it’s easy now on DaVinci Resolve with M1. The engineering team has worked so hard on this new image processing engine for DaVinci Resolve, and it is an incredibly exciting time to be developing software for the Mac!”

  1. What they haven’t adressed in the Edit Page. The horrible audio implementation on the source side… no source mixer. no ability to solo and mute channels of source audio, no labeling of what track is what. Having to go into clip properties to turn channels on and off, the inspector doesn’t have controls for each track in the source clip.
The nightmare of having to disable sequences for them not to show up in the drop-down menu. If a bin is closed, the sequence should not show up. If one archives an old version, one shouldn’t have to disable it for it to not show up. I work in short form and make sometimes 8 or 10 new versions a day. Its a real bummer. If the sequences are put in an archive bin, they should not show up.

  2. I used to get sequenced images from After FX and when I would open them on my Davinci they would merge and become a video, now it is not doing it, how can I merge them like before?
