Is your panel firmware up to date? Resolve comes bundled with an app you might not have used yet.
It’s the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app.
It lets you update any of your Blackmagic Design panels for DaVinci Resolve. Speed Editor, Micro Panel, Mini Panel, Fairlight Desktop Console, etc.
A firmware update helps ensure that the panel will have access to all the features in the current version of DaVinci Resolve.
In this video from Blackmagic Design, you’ll learn about:
- Why to update firmware
- Steps needed before updating
- Launching the Panel Setup app
- Finding the update prompt
- Selecting the panel to be used in DaVinci Resolve preferences

I sold my speed editor and mini panel as they are not customisable and have to many features I don’t use.
Are there panels that work with all the editing programs or at least the major ones-Resolve, Final Cut X, Premiere, Avid?
No, BMD panels will only work with Resolve
