Blackmagic Design Announces Price Reductions on DaVinci Resolve Keyboards and Panels

In an unexpected move, Blackmagic Design has announced some price changes for their DaVinci Resolve hardware.

And most of them are getting LOWER!

Editor Keyboard, Micro Panel, and Mini Panel all got a significant price cut.

The only one to get higher is the Resolve Speed Editor, but you’ve been able to get one for free with purchase of a Resolve license for the past year so I suppose all good things must come to an end.

The other change is that each of these pieces of hardware will now be bundled with a Resolve license, just like the cameras.

So you’re getting an extra value with each, AND the price got lower.

What do you think of these price changes? Planning to buy any of them now?

Full release from Blackmagic Design Below:

Fremont, CA, USA – Tuesday, October 26, 2021 – Blackmagic Design today announced new lower prices for color correction panels and editor keyboards used with DaVinci Resolve.

In addition, we are now ending our DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor bundle. This model will become $395 from today, as a separate product to the DaVinci Resolve Studio software.

The new prices are:

  • DaVinci Resolve $Free.
  • DaVinci Resolve Studio $295.
  • DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor $395, an increase of $100.
  • DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard $595, a saving of $400.
  • DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel $795, a saving of $200.
  • DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel $1995, a saving of $1000.

Plus on top of these savings, the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor, DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard, DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel will now all include DaVinci Resolve Studio. This means each product has an extra $295 value because customers don’t need to purchase additional software to use them.

While the bundle deal for DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor and DaVinci Resolve Studio has now ended, it’s only slightly more money to get both, because the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor now includes the software. The new combination replaces the previous introduction special offer bundle announced at the launch of the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor last year.

DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor $395, DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard $595, DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel $795 and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel $1,995, with DaVinci Resolve Studio included, are immediately available from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide.

The DaVinci Resolve keyboards have been designed in conjunction with the cut and edit pages to make editing dramatically faster. Customers get physical controls that they can feel in their hands, making the experience much better than software only editing. Unlike a mouse, the machined metal search dial with soft rubber coating allows very accurate search and positioning of the timeline. It feels just like holding the timeline in your hand. Trim keys allow the search dial to be used for live trimming, which is faster because the search dial is larger and more accurate. Editing and trimming with the search dial is a whole new way to work.

The DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor features dedicated edit function keys on the left and a high quality search dial with electronic clutch and transport controls on the right. Customers can use the search dial and source tape buttons with their right hand to locate shots, while simultaneously marking in and out points, performing edits and live trimming with their left hand. All without touching the mouse. The DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard adds a QWERTY keyboard with color coded shortcut keycaps, designed for customers who spend hours each day editing.

DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel let customers adjust multiple parameters at once so they can create unique looks that are impossible with a mouse and keyboard. The incredibly small DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel is great for customers just getting started or anyone that needs a portable panel. It features three high quality trackballs, knobs for primary adjustment controls and buttons for playback and navigation. The DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel features additional controls and screens for accessing virtually all palettes and tools.

“We have worked very hard to build the panels and editor keyboard at a lower cost, and we think even more customers will be able to take advantage of this price reduction and inclusion of DaVinci Resolve Studio to move to a more advanced and much higher quality post production workflow,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “The launch special offer of a free DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor with the purchase of DaVinci Resolve Studio has been incredibly popular, so we’ve decided to replace this and include DaVinci Resolve Studio with the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor. It’s just so fast to edit and color grade without a mouse and keyboard, and a lot of fun to use, we hope even more customers are now able to benefit from using them!”

  1. I salute and congratulate Blackmagic Design for their amazing video editor software. I can’t know how the panels feel, but I believe they are wonderfull too. The thing is, some people were not eligible for that awesome bundle of Speed Editor + Resolve due to geographic reasons and now, to make thing worse, the only affordable panel some enthusiasts and amateurs could buy is now out of our reach. For people who are still developing their skills but still have a small budget to spend on gear, the increased price for Speed Editor is just a bit too much. I would love to buy one (it was the only one I could possibly buy) but now its cost just became unbearable.

The only solution for amateur editors like myself is to look for used gear, and that really is a no-no, since I do like to buy new and support the developer (as long as it is possible for me, financially speaking).

I still think DaVinci Resolve is the best video editor out there, no questions asked. But this price change makes me a bit sad. Just my 2 cents.

    • If $395 is too much for you to pay for a software you don’t pay a subscription for, and the speed editor, just use the free version of the software. If you’re making money from the program, it’s a no brainer. If you’re not making money from it, I don’t understand the complaint. Why would you ever buy pro gear if you’re not making money with it?

  2. While it’s nice for the price drops, I cant imagine how much it must suck for people who just bought the product to see a few weeks later a massive price drop. They did the price drop on the Ursa 12K. If I had purchased one for full price and saw the price drop $4K…I’d be furious.

It is a huge difference of £1000 pounds.
What a tragedy- Not sure what to do.

  3. This makes the Micro Panel reeeaaally tempting. I can hold off for now since color is only a small part of my job, but after a few well paying gigs I may have to treat myself.
