It’s been a couple months since the last update, there’s a few new features and bug fixes here.
But now that spring is right around the corner, we’re likely to see Resolve 19 announced in a couple months so there wouldn’t be much new stuff in a release like this.
But before I start speculating about future versions, there are some good improvements in this one.
Support for Sony Burano files, gyro stabilization support for more cameras, OpenTimelineIO improvements, and better control over color grade versions are definitely going to help a lot of people.
Most of the updates look like some important issues were fixed. Thanks Blackmagic!
From BMD:
Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.6.5 update, which adds support for Blackmagic RAW 3.6.1 and Sony Burano files. With this update, you now have the ability to import and export compound clips as well as clip markers in Open TimelineIO. This means that these files will be accurately translated to and from DaVinci Resolve timelines so you can read and share edit decisions with a wider range of programs.
For DaVinci Resolve Studio, this update adds AI stabilization for footage shot on Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K and Micro Studio Camera 4K G2. These cameras have a built in motion sensor that records pan, tilt and roll data which can be used to stabilize shots in DaVinci Resolve Studio, removing any unintended shakiness while retaining resolution quality.
When adding EXR mattes to clips on the color page, the newly created nodes will now default to the layer names in the metadata of the original file rather than name them Matte 1 or Matte 2. This speeds up your workflow when working with matte files as you don’t need to relabel them from scratch. This release also restores the ability to select multiple thumbnails in a timeline and then use the right hand click menu or keyboard shortcut to apply new color versions to all selected clips.
As always, be sure to back up your project library before updating.
